1969년은 락페스티발의 해였다.가장 큰 것은 Woodstock Music and Art Fair로 뉴욕의 윗쪽에 위치한 조그만 마을 Bethel에서 8월 15-17일에 걸쳐서 행해졌다.대략 45만명이 이 행사에 참여했으며 Jimi Hendrix 와 Joe Cocker,
Arlo Guthrie, the Jefferson Airplane, the Who,Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, Ravi Shankar ,Country Joe McDonald가 출연하였다.
