The old home town looks the same As I step down from the train And there to meet me is my mama and papa   Down the road I look and there runs Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries It's good to touch the green green grass of home   Yes, they'll all come to meet me Arms a reaching, smiling sweetly It's good to touch the green green grass of home   The old house is still standing though the paint is cracked and dry And there's that old oak tree that I used to play on   Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries It's good to touch the green green grass of home   Then I awake and look around me At four grey walls that surround me And I realize yes, I was only dreaming   For there's a guard And there's a sad old Padre Arm in arm we'll walk at daybreak Again I'll touch the green green grass of home   Yes, they'll all come to see me in the shade of that old oak tree As they lay me beneath the green green grass of home

기차에서 내려서 바라본 고향 집은 그대로야 그리고 어머니와 아버지가 나를 맞아주시지   길 아래로는 달려가는 금발에 체리 같은 입술의 메리의 모습이 보여 고향의 푸른 잔디를 만져보니 정말 좋군   팔을 벌리고, 환하게 웃으며 모두가 날 맞으러 나와 줄 거야 고향의 푸른 잔디를 만져보니 정말 좋아   페인트 칠이 말라 갈라지긴 했지만 그 옛집은 아직도 그대로 있고 내가 올라가 놀던 참나무도 그대로 있어   오솔길을 따라 아래로 금발에 체리 같은 입술의 메리와 함께 걸었어 고향의 푸른 잔디를 만져보니 정말 좋군   그 때, 깨어나 주위를 둘러보니 난 사방에 회색 빛 벽에 둘러싸여 있었어 내가 꿈을 꾸었다는 걸 깨달았지   왜냐하면 보초병과 슬픈 얼굴의 늙은 신부가 있었거든 날이 밝으면 팔짱을 끼고 걸어 나갈 테지 난 다시 고향의 푸른 잔디를 느껴 볼 거야   그 오래된 참나무 그늘 아래로 모두가 날 마중 나올 거야 내가 고향의 푸른 잔디 아래 누울 때 말이야
