No Charge
My little boy came up to me In the kitchen this evening
while I was making dinner
And he handed me a piece of paper he'd been writing on
And after wiping my hands on my apron, I read it.
And this is what it said.
부엌에서 저녁식사 준비를 하고 있는데
어린 아들이 다가왔다.
그러고는 뭐라고 쓴 쪽지 하나를 내밀었다.
젖은 손을 앞치마에 닦고 그 쪽지를 받아 읽어보니
거기엔 이렇게 적혀 있었다.
For mowing the lawn, 5 dollars!
For making my own bed this week, 1 dollar!
For going to the store, 50 cents!
Playing with little brother while you went to the store, 25 cents!
For Taking out the rubbish, 1 dollar!
Getting a good report card, 5 dollars!
And for raking the yard, 2 dollars!
Total owed, 14.75!
잔디 깎은 값 5달러!
한주간 내 침대 정리한 값 1달러!
가게 심부름해 준 값 50센트!
엄마 장보실 때 동생 봐준값 25센트!
쓰레기 버려준 값 1달러!
좋은 성적표 받아 온 값 5달러!
마당 쓴 값 2달러!
총 청구액 14.75달러!
Well, I looked at him standing there expectantly,

And so, I picked up the pen, turning the paper over,

충고해주고 가르쳐 준 값,
학교 교육비 역시 공짜!
For the toys, food and clothes,
and even for wiping your nose there's NO CHARGE... son!
장난감 사주고, 먹여주고, 옷입혔던 거,
흘린 콧물 닦아 준 것도! 공짜다 아들아!

네게 준 엄마의
이 모든 사랑이 공짜다!
When he finished reading,
He had great big tears in his eyes.
And he looked up at me and said,
"Mom...! I really do love you!"
녀석이 다 읽더니
눈에 커다란 눈물이 글썽거리면서
나를 쳐다보면서 내게 말했다.
"엄마...!"
"정말 사랑해!"
Then he took the pen,
and in great big letters
He wrote "PAID IN FULL!"
그러더니 펜을 들어 아주 크게 이렇게 썼다.
"완불!"
