Mary Anne and Wanda were the best of friends
All through their high school days

both active in the FFA After graduation

for a bright new world
졸업 후 메리 앤은 밝은 세상을 보기 위해
혼자 마을을 떠났습니다.
Wanda looked all around this town
and all she found was Earl
완다는 마을에 남아 여러가지를 찾아 봤지만
찾을 수 있는 유일한 것은 얼이란 남자 뿐이었죠.
Well, it wasn't two weeks after she got married
that Wanda started gettin' abused
완다가 폭력을 당하기 시작한 것은
그녀가 결혼한지 채 2주가 되지않았을 때였습니다.
She'd put on dark glasses or long sleeved blouses
Or make-up to cover a bruise
그녀는 멍이 든 곳을 가리기위해 썬클라스와 긴 팔의 블라우스를 입고
화장을 아주 진하게 했어요.
Well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce
And she let the law take it from there
그녀는 마침내 이혼을 결심하고
용기를 내어 법정으로 달려갔습니다.
But Earl walked right through that restraining order
And put her in intensive care
하지만 남편 얼은 가처분 신청을 받았고
완다에게 폭력을 가해 중 환자실로 보내 버렸습니다.
Right away Mary Anne flew in from Atlanta
On a red eye midnight flight
그 소식을 접한 메리 앤은
아틀랜타로부터 밤을 새워서 달려왔습니다.
She held Wanda's hand as they worked out a plan
And it didn't take 'em long to decide

So the girls bought some land
