기차선로일 근무하였다.
어려서부터 기타와 바이올린 피아노를 연주하여 십대에 밴드결성 했다.
로데오에관심으로 16세때 출전 부상으로 음악에전념한다.
1964년 처음싱글'"Lonely Lady" 발표 순회공연 한다.
1974년 이노래를 발표 히트하여
컨트리가수로의 지위를 확고히한다.
