The Carter Family ...
카터 패밀리는 A.P.Carter와 그의 부인 Sara, 그리고 Carter의 제수인 Maybelle로 구성 된 컨트리 그룹이다.
Carter는 포크 송을 수집 편곡을 Sara는 리드 보컬로 오토하프와 기타를 Maybelle은 하모니와 스틸 기타, 오토 하프를 연주했다.
특히 Maybelle의 혁신적인 기타 연주법은 bass string 으로 멜로디를 연주하면서 동시에 upper string 으로는 오프 비트에 리듬을 연주하는 Carter Scratch 혹은 Carter style 로 스틸 기타 연주법의 좋은 표본이 되었다.
1988년에 그래미 상을 수상하였으며. 주로 1927년에서 1943년 사이에 활동했으며 블루그래스, 컨트리, 남부 가스펠로 팝과 록 가수들 특히 1960년대 미국 folk revival 에 큰 영향을 주었다.
