베이스톤의 굵은 목소리를 자랑하는 터너는 어려서 부터 교회 성가대에서 노래를 불렀다.
‘벨몬트 대학’(Belmont University)에 진학해서는 클래식음악을 공부하며 실력을 쌓아 나갔다.
대학에서 만난 ‘제니퍼’와는 2003년 결혼했으며 2년전 아들을 하나 낳았다.
요즘도 제니퍼는 피아노를 치며 백보컬로 터너와 함께 공연을 하고 있다.
