어네스트 텁은 소박하고 부드러운 올드타임 컨트리 음악과 난폭하고
거친현대의 사운드를 통합시킨 아티스트였다.
1914년 텍사스의 출신으로 어렸을때부터 지미로저스의 음악에 매료 되어있었다.
로저스를 너무숭배한 나머지 그는 로저스의 미망인을 찿아 나섰고
결국 그녀를 통하여 쇼비지니스계에 입문하게 된다.
30년대 그의 레코드는 로저스를 연상케하는 것이었다.
그러나 1941년 부터 그의 음악이 극적으로 변화되었다.
텍사스의 값싼 음식점과 댄스홀에서 여러해동안 노래 하면서
그의 목소리는 낮아 졌으며 그의 밴드의 악기 편성은 많이 증가 되었다.
