에밀루 해리스는 1947년에 태어나 대학시절부터
음악에 관심을 가지기 시작해 Mike Williams와
포크 듀오를 결성하기에 이른다.
Harris는 음악 활동을 계속하기 위해 학교를
그만 두고 뉴욕의 그리니치 빌리지로 거주지를
옮겨 그곳에서 데뷔 앨범 [Glinding Bird]('68)를
발표하지만 그녀의 소속 레이블이 도산하면서
무일푼이 되고 결혼 생활까지 파탄을 맞았다.
지방클럽에서 공연을 하던 그녀는 그램 파슨스를
만나 72년에 다시 솔로 앨범을 발표하는 기회를 갖게
되었는데, 안타깝게도 앨범을 발매하자마자 파슨스가
약물 복용으로 발각되면서 그녀 곁을 떠나고 그녀는
Angel Band를 결성하여 활동하기 시작했다.
그 후 프로듀서인 브라이언과 결혼한 뒤 발표한
앨범 [Elite Hotel]('75)의 수록곡 Together Again과
Sweet Dreams가 여성 컨트리 뮤직 부문 그래미상을
수상하면서 서서히 음악적 절정기에 오르게 되었다.
