어려서부터 신학을 공부한 독실한 신자였다 합니다.
북텍사스 대학에서 그리스어전공하였는데 신앙을 위해서라 하구요..
그뒤 UCLA에서공부하는동안 작곡에손을대 록밴드
'Dillard & Clark Expedition'를 결성하여
이후 내쉬빌로 들어가 활동하기 시작하여
컨트리 뮤지션으로 성공 하게 되는 마이클 마틴 머피
