영국 서부 글래스고우 출신의
ROBIN WILLIAMSON과 CLIVE PALMER, 그리고 에딘버그 출신
의 MIKE HERON이 모여 켈트문화에 바탕을 두고 65년
INCREDIBLE STRING BAND를 결성.
그룹 결성이후약 10년간에 걸쳐 10장이 넘는 정규앨범을 발표하며
트레디셔널 포크에 싸이키적인 분위기를 절묘하게 도입시킨
음악적 활동을 보여줍니다.
이들이 그룹을 결성하는 계기를 보면,그룹을 결성하기 3,4년
전 스코트랜드의 트레디셔널을 추구하던 ROBIN은 CLIVE와 만나 듀오
로 당시에 유행했던 미국 포크음악과 영국의 전통 블루스곡등을 부
르며 클럽에서 활동했었다고 합니다.
그 이후 R&B밴드에서 활동하는 MIKE와 의기투합해
INCREDIBLE STRING BAND를 결성했다고 합니다.
이때가 65년 후반이였고 이때부터 INCREDIBLE STRING BAND라는
브리티쉬 포크록의 역사에 커다란 업적을 남긴 영웅들이 이때부터
본격적인 활동을 시작합니다.
이때부터 ROBIN과 MIKE는 곡들을 만
들기 시작했으며 66년 드디어 한곡 한곡 모여 그들의 데뷰 앨
범, 'THE INCREDIBLE STRING BAND'가 세상의 빛을 볼수 있게 되었습니다.
본 앨범 곳곳에서 느껴지는 ROBIN의 GUITAR에서는 그룹 특유의 트
레디셔널한 냄새가 짙게 배어있고.
곡들에서 느껴지는 특유한 편안함에 기인하는 것이겠지만.
